John Wesley Asher

 

John Wesley Asher, 80, of Hwy 3245, Crab Orchard, died Monday, January 12, 2004 at the VA Hospital in Lexington. He was born September 16, 1923 in the Marcum Community of Clay County to Beldon "B. G." and Maultie Langdon Asher, was a member of the Community Worship Church of God, and an Army veteran of WWII.

 

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Shirley June Hendrickson Asher of Crab Orchard; five children, Michael (Phyllis) of Richmond, IN, Sandra Hampton (Jim) of Pikeville, Keith (Geneva) of Brodhead, Wesley Kenny (Sandra) of Louisville and Kevin (Lisa) of Elizabethtown; four sisters, Helen Wilson of Richmond, IN, Callie Howard and Norma Floyd both of Brodhead and Marion Byrd of Lynn, IN; three brothers, Raymond Asher of Crab Orchard, Beldon Asher, Jr. of New Salisbury, IN and Waldo Asher of Georgetown; 20 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one step grandchild and three step great grandchildren.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Etta Brandenburg and Lois Asher.

 

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 15 at Community Worship Church of God with Bro. Billy Bryant officiating. Burial, with military rites, was in the Piney Grove Cemetery in Brodhead.

 

Pallbearers were: Anthony Keith, Jr. and Toby Asher, Ray Fletcher, Jim Buchanan and Larry Nicely.

Honorary pallbearers were: Raymond Asher and Jerry Denney.
