Shirley A. VanHook Brown

 

Mrs. Shirley Arlene VanHook Brown, 62, died Sunday, January 25, 2004 at her residence on Hwy 39. She was born October 3, 1941 at Walnut Grove, the daughter of Luther and Susie Baker Debord.

 

Mrs. Brown was a member of the Sunrise Baptist Church, enjoyed being a homemaker, was a former secretary at Rockcastle Manufacturing and a cabinet maker.

 

Survivors are her husband, Donnie Brown, whom she married in 1968; two sons, James VanHook (Debbie) and Perry VanHook (Alice), both of Somerset; two daughters, Caroline Lovins (Joe-Joe) and Michelle Thompson, both of Eubank; three brothers, Clyde Debord (Nellie) of Eubank, A. F. Debord (Rose) of Loveland, OH and William Debord (Illa) of Somerset; two sisters, Joy Godsey (Jim) of Fairfield, OH and Irene Lewis (Johnny) of Norwood and four grandchildren.

 

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Carter VanHook; two brothers, John and Millard Debord and a sister, Edith Godsey.

 

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, January 28 at the Sunrise Baptist Church with Bros. Rick Reynolds and Jessie McCoy officiating. Burial followed in the Poplar Grove Cemetery at Willailla.

 

Pallbearers were:  Wayne Godsey, David Debord, Danny Debord, Milton Debord, Joe-Joe Lovins, Phil Thompson and Jackson Carter.
