Dorothy May Decker Howard

 

Mrs. Dorothy May Decker Howard, 76, of Murfreesboro, TN, formerly of Brodhead, widow of Jack Howard, died Monday, November 24, 2003.

 

She was born July 21, 1927 at Jabez in Wayne Co., the daughter of James Leslie and Josephine M. Marcum Decker. She had worked as an environmental worker in the hotel industry and was a member of Morrows Chapel in Wayne County.

 

Survivors include her nine children, Betty Lou Richards of Cincinnati, OH, Jackie Cloyd (Robert), Anna Maria Howard, Glenrose Williams and James Jackson Howard; all of Indianapolis, IN; Christine Howard, Alma Jeanette Dickens and Sylvia Belinda Anderson, all of Murfreesboro, TN and Mary Johnson (Le Mar) of Nancy; four brothers, Milburn Decker (Betty) and Oborne Decker (Pauline), both of Jabez, Roosevelt Decker (Janice) of New Palestine, IN and Bob Decker (Mary) of Cincinnati, OH, a sister, Roxie McDougal (Royce) of Bicknell, IN; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; seven great, great grandchildren; seven step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren.

 

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two children, Bobby Ray Howard and John Alfred Howard; a grandson, Michael Ray Howard; two brothers, Marvin and Cosby Decker and two sisters, Alma Lois Beshears and Wilma Irene Decker.

 

Funeral services were conducted Friday, November 28 at the Marvin E. Owens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rick Reynolds officiating. Burial was in the Piney Grove Cemetery in Brodhead.
