Ms. Mabel Kelley, age 85 of Mt. Vernon, died Wednesday, June 11 at the Rockcastle Hospital. She was born in Rockcastle County on Sep. 30, 1917 the daughter of William B. and Kizzie M. Ponder Cummins. She was a retired nurse's aide for the Rockcastle Hospital, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, and was a Kentucky Colonel. She is survived by three sons, Bob Fields (Eddie) of Mt. Vernon, John Kelley (Jerri) of Nancy, KY, and Dwain Kelley (Gail) of Hamilton, OH; two daughters, Verna Houston and Brenda Saylor, both of Mt. Vernon; and one brother, Chester Cummins of Summerville, OH. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William B. and Kizzie M. Cummins; a daughter, Clara Fields; two sisters, Bernice and Rachel; one brother, Russell; and one grandson, Todd Fields. |
