Mr. Henry VanWinkle, Jr., age 72 of Rt. 2 Mt. Vernon, died Sunday, May 16 at his home. He was born in Rockcastle County on Nov. 21, 1931 the son of Henry and Lizzie Robinson VanWinkle. He was a tree trimmer and was of the Baptist Faith.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Opal Baker VanWinkle; one son, Timothy VanWinkle (Cynthia) of Burr; three daughters, Joyce Abney (Leroy) of Burr, Shirley Bullen (Thomas) of Mt. Vernon, and Tammie Bradley (Otis) of Sand Hill; one brother, Jacob VanWinkle (Alene) of Mt. Vernon; three sisters, Mandy VanZant of Burr, Lucinda Atwell of Mt. Vernon, and Pearl Cameron of Eminence; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Elsie Cameron, Ruth Richards, and Ruby Vessels Allen; one grandson, Roger Dale Bowman; and one granddaughter, Devona Gray.
