It is hoped you will find these birth records useful in your search for your ancestors and family.  There were databases of births prior to 1911 in selected counties, but those records are just now becoming available online with assistance from a group of volunteers of the KyGenWeb Project.  If you don't see the years you need located here yet, you can contact the Dept. for Library & Archives in Frankfort.  The following years are available for Shelby County:  1852, 1853, 1854, 1855, 1856, 1857, 1858, 1859, 1861, 1874, 1875, 1876, 1877, 1878. The State Auditor also maintained lists filed by county, from 1852-1910.  These earlier years were experimental and were rather hit and miss, but worth checking into if you're missing a birth date for someone around those timeframes.

My original intent was to place all birth years online, but have recently decided to wait until Congress makes its decision about what to do regarding records for persons still living.  I've decided that 1930 is a good stopping point for now and will eventually get those online here.
