The Old Chopawamsic Baptist Church

Photos taken and contributed by David E. Cann.

Main (and paved) road of today where it meets the old dirt road that you see running behind it.  This originally was the main road that went right by the church and cemetery.  There is not much left to see any more.
About a quarter to a half mile down the dirt road from the one you see in #1 above, this marks the location of the church foundation and few remaining graves.
The church foundation.  The rectangular stone arrangement in front, is all that remains of the church fireplace used for heating.  The church entrance is just out of the picture to the left.
Front right corner of the church foundation, as viewed from inside the church.  In the far lower left corner, you can see the end of the long stone step that once was the main entrance.
Front of the churchyard, where once stood the hitching post as well as a very small corral and stable.  They were all wooden structures and nothing remains but weeds
This is the rear of the church where the graveyard was before they relocated the graves to Cedar Run Cemetery.
Top step and main entrance of the church, from the inside looking out.  Straight ahead in those weeds is where the corral and stable once was located.
Again, the main entrance, and to the far left almost out of the picture is where the graveyard began.  The road passed the church on the right out of view here, so the cemetery was to the left side and rear of the church in relation to the front entrance.
On the left side of the church outside the fireplace foundation, looking "through" the church at the road.
This is the back of the church and would have overlooked the old graveyard.
