Timmons - Tate Wedding Contributed By: Laura Perry
This paragraph appeared in a column headed "Bristerburg" in THE WARRENTON VIRGINIAN of Fauquier County, Virginia. Published 19 October 1893. As printed. Mr. Stanton Timmons and Miss Martha Tate, both of Stafford county, were married last Tuesday evening, at the residence of Mr. William Heflin in this county. Rev. John O. Tackett officiating, the ushers were Messrs. Fairfax Eskridge, Goulder Heflin and Claton Eskridge, best man Mr. William Ramey. The bride looked very pretty and was attired in a beautiful wedding dress, carrying in her hand a bouquet of bride's roses. After the ceremony the bride and groom, left for their future home in Stafford county accompanied by their friends. The friends of the happy couple wish them a long and prosperous career of wedded bliss. *I think this must have been a second marriage for Stanton. He was a Civil War veteran and is listed as 47 (b. 1832-1833) in the 1880 census. Martha C. Timmons (b. July 1846) is listed in the 1900 census of Stafford County as a widow who has had no children. She is listed as sister in the household of William H. Tate (Series: T623 Roll: 1729 Page: 75B). |
