Opened 1995
Named after Henry Harrison Poole who
was born near Stafford Courthouse, graduated from Virginia State
College. He was the supervisor of the black schools in Stafford and
King George Co. from 1936-1953.
Contributed by Jeannie Knutson On Eustace RD. in Stafford, in front of H.H. Poole Middle School, there is a plaque attached to a large rock and it says: IN MEMORY OF THE SHACKELFORD FAMILY WHO WERE BORN, LIVED OUT THEIR LIVES AND FARMED THE SURROUNDING LAND. WHEN STAFFORD CO. WAS STILL A RURAL AGRICULTURAL COMMUNITY THE FAMILY CEMETERY CONTAINED THE REMAINS OF THE SHACKELFORDS, KNIGHTS & ARMSTRONGS. RE-INTERRED 1993 AT THE RAMOUTH BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY. |
