John Jr. apparently married Mrs. Catherine (LANE) JONES in Washington Co. in 1806. Did they leave descendants? Also, interested in identifying the wife/wives of John GRAHAM Sr. His widow was named Mary, but she may have been a second wife? One tradition says John's wife was Nancy WATSON. The marriage was witnessed by Mary's brother-in-law, Abraham NORRIS. Abraham had married Mary's sister, Ellen Anna LAMB, in 1796 in Mason County, Kentucky [Abraham and Ellen NORRIS may have lived briefly in Washington County, Kentucky]. Mary and Ellen's father was believed to be William LAMB married to a Sarah, probably Sarah WOODS. Younger children of William's family were born in Kentucky. The SARGENT, LAMB, and NORRIS families all have deep roots in Maryland. In Mason County and later in Brown County, Ohio these families intermarried fairly frequently. We have speculated that these families all emigrated from Maryland at the same time, coming to Mason County. Does anyone know anything about these families in particular? Or anything in general about what would bring a contingent of people from Maryland to Mason County, Kentucky in the 1790s? Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Or if you know anyone who has any information about these families, please let us know. Thank you. Sincerely,

Bob Pennington Thu Oct 9 15:17:54 1997

JAMES MOLLIHORN brought his family to Kentucky with the Maryland Catholics on the frontier movement. I can't find any info on his son CHARLES and Charles's wife JANE MOLLIHORN. They are listed in Washington Co. census for 1800. James was married twice. I don't know his 1st wife, but his second was Maria Langley and they married in 1771. Charles could be from the 1st marriage because his son William was born in 1790. So Charles had to be born abt.1760-1770. Does anyone have any info on this family? I would appreciate any help! Recently I came upon a complete (I think) list of all the members of the 10th Kentucky Infantry Regiment (Union). This lists all the names, ranks, and company assignments. Many of these men were from Washington and Marion County. Do you have a name you need looked up? Send me an e- mail. All I ask is to give first and last name, town or area where they came from, and any other information you have which may help pinpoint the anscestor. Consider sending birth year, etc. When you receive the information back I would also appreciate knowing the usefulness of the information. I may try to expand the information to a larger database. I have no other Washington or Marion County Civil War information on other units. My anscestors listed are Henry P. Fields and Richard Miles Fields.

In doing research on my husband's family tree, a Wade-Brewer relationship was found that proved to be a challenge. The mystery is the exact lineage of John Evan Wade, born July 24, 1792 or 1793 in Washington County, Kentucky. Previous research revealed John Evan Wade was a prominent farmer of Daviess County, Indiana. At the time of his death on December 16,1865, John was the owner of 320 acres of well-improved land. After his marriage on July 13, 1811 in Washington County, Kentucky, he and his wife resided in Marion County, Kentucky and Lawrence County, Indiana. John Evan was married to Mary Ellen (aka Eleanora) Brewer, who bore him nine children. They were James, William Henry, Benedict Joseph "Ben," Thomas "Alvin," Julia Ann, Marietta, David W., John, and Winifred Elizabeth "Bett." Zebe Wade, son of Benedict was also raised in John Evan's home. Eleanora's parents were James Brewer and Mary Yates of St. Mary's County, Maryland. The Washington County, Kentucky marriage record may have more than a little bearing on the situation. John and Eleanora's recorded marriage bond was signed by Mary Yates Brewer and Sarah Wade Owens, wife of James Owens. Sarah may have been John's mother, older sister, aunt, or cousin. John Evan Wade (spelled, Evan Waid) was a private in the War of 1812 and the Battle of New Orleans. Unfortunately, his military record only revealed his pay of $8 a month and his will appointing Joseph Wade as his attorney. A family note of unknown source says that John Evan and his wife are buried at Kilgore in Van Buren Township, Daviess County, Indiana. A descendant of James Wade states positively, that John and Eleanora are buried in the old cemetery of St. Peter's at Montgomery, Indiana. Yet the question remains, who were John Evan Wade's parents and siblings? Any information on John Evan Wade, Eleanora Brewer Wade, Sarah Wade Owens, or James Owens will be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to find out the ancestors of my great-great grandfather,
Charles Kendrick Whelan, Sr. I think that his father was Michael Whelan,
for I found a Kendrick Whelan, age 23 in the 1860 Census for Meade
County, and his father was Michael Whelan, and his mother was Annie P.
This would approximately fit the age of my great-great grandfather, who
was born around 1838 and died in 1873. However, I cannot find him in the
1850 census of Meade County. My great grandfather, his son, was named
Charles Kendrick Whelan, Jr, and my grandfather was Michael Edward
Whelan, both of whom died in Meade County. I found a Micheal Whelan in
the 1840 census of Marion County, so I am thinking that before coming to
Meade County, he could have lived in one of the following counties:
Hardin, Larue, Nelson, Washington, Bullit, Breckinridge, Mercer. Any help

Query: Several years ago, while doing research on my MOORE lines, I came across
a series of newpaper columns done by Mr. Orval Baylor, concerning the
history of Washington County, Kentucky, many of which were then included in
a book by him concerning the history of the county. These articles were
are a real springboard for research into my PITMAN/BERRY lines, taking me
all the way back to Virginia. What I am wondering is: How reliable was
his research. It seems very much so to me, but I have found that there is
a lot of disagreement in other sources concerning the Lincoln connection to
the Shipleys and the Berrys. The columns were written in the 1930s Just
wondering if anyone out there knows a reason to disbelieve the
information in them as sources for genealogy.

Query: Need help filling in some blanks in a family story. My maternal gg grandfather,
William Daniel CLARK (b. July 1848 & d. ca.1909), lost a leg working at a quarry near Mackville, (Washington County) KY.
He used the money from the accident to buy or lease a farm in Mackville.
The farm went to his eldest son George W. CLARK at William's death. I know the farm was gone by 1925.

My questions: Does anyone know the quarry? It's name? Is it still in operation?
Where would I find records?

Is anyone out there from Mackville or someplace close. I would like to
know more about the town and what used to be around.
