Van Ratliff, Sr. age 77 passed away Sunday February 5, 2017. He was born April 4, 1939 in Hazard, KY to the late Lawrence and Helen (nee Creech) Ratliff. In Hamilton on November 27, 1965 he married Shirley Ann Sturgill. Van is survived by his wife Shirley of 51 years; two children; eight grandchildren ; four great grandchildren  and one on the way. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Along with his parents Van was preceded in death by a daughter Tammy Ratliff; nine siblings Mitchell, Malcolm, Arnold, Roland, Vincent, David, Corinthian, Opal, and Bonnie.
Visitation will be at THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 3080 Homeward Way at Rt. 4 Fairfield Wednesday February 8, 2017 from 10AM until the time of the funeral service at 11AM with Pastor Wilma Saylor-Jackson officiating. Burial to follow with full military honors in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Bulan-Shelby Keaton Stidham, age 72, died Sunday, October 2, 2005 at home. He is survived by his 2 daughters, Veronica Rose Stidham and Gladys Starlene Stidham; 4 sons-Shelby Stidham Jr., Shelby Wayne Stidham, Roger Talbert Stidham, and Jim Kirosa Stidham; 4 sisters-Alpha Holliday, Geraldine Neace, Fanny Holliday, and Decie Jean Johnson; 4 daughters-in-law-Bessie May, Pamela Sue, Melissa Renee, and Bertie Stidham; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.  Hazard-Roy Robertson, age 93, died Saturday, October 1, 2005, at home. He is preceded in death by his wife, Eva Robertson. He is survived by 2 daughters-Cleta Mae Baker and Barbara Deaton; 3 sons-Hershel Robertson, Fred Robertson and Roy Daniel Robertson; 2 sisters, Wanda Cochran and Opsie Banks; 3 brothers-Orville Robertson, Raymond Robertson and Odis Robertson; special friends, Thurman and Lorraine Rose, Burchel and Peggy Cornett; 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.  Jeff-Marvin Combs, age 81, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2005 at Hazard ARH Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Beuledith (Billie) Combs; daughter, Teresa Lane Collins; and one granddaughter, Holli Combs. Arrangements were handled by Maggard Brothers Funeral Home of Hazard, KY. Funeral service was held Sunday, October 2, 2005. Interment at Samp Combs Cemetery in Acup, KY.
 
 Hazard-Nora Gayheart, age 76, died Sunday, August 28, 2005 at Hazard ARH Medical Center in Hazard, KY. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Gayheart; four daughters-Nancy Johnson, Dana Hill, Linda Stacy, Evelyn Miller; two sons-Lloyd Gayheart and Wendell Gayheart; one brother, Ulous Hurt; special nephew, Abijah Ritchie; 8 Grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held on August 31, 2005. Interment at Gayheart Cemetery in Lotts Creek, KY, with arrangements by Maggard Brothers Funeral Home of Hazard, KY.
 
 Donald Colwell, age 56, of Busy, KY., died Monday, August 22, 2005, at Hazard A.R.H. Hospital in Hazard, Ky. He is preceded in death by Mother, Floria Colwell, and Brother, Larry Wade Colwell. He is survived by his father, Boyd Colwell; on daughter, Holly Michelle Colwell; one son, Donald Wade Colwell; one brother, Marty Dean Colwell and a host of nieces and nephews.  Edward Lewis, age 74, of Hyden, KY, died Sunday, July 31, 2005 at Mary Breckinridge Hospital in Hazard, KY. He was the son of the late Arthur Lewis and Sally Ann Howard.  He is preceded in death by three brothers-Lidge, Bill and Charles and two sisters-Oda and Elva Lee.  He is survived by his wife, Juanita Lewis; three daughters-Charlotte Wilder, Teresa Cooper and Kathy Adams; one son, James Dean Couch; five sisters and one special grandchild, John Wiley Couch, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Arrangements were handled by Maggard Brothers Funeral Home of Hazard, KY.  Funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 3, 2005.  Interment at Howard Family Cemetery in Hyden, KY.
 
 Hubert Bowling, age 71, of Whitesburg, KY, died Monday, August 1, 2005 at Whitesburg ARH.  He was the son of the late Merida and Susie Williams bowling.  He is preceded in death by three brothers-Jesse, James and Johnny Bowling.  He is survived by his two daughters-Pamela Hatton and Heather Haley; special family, Jessie Faye; two grandchildren-Hannah Haley and Haden Haley.  Abner Newman, age 57, of Hazard, KY, died Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at Hazard ARH Hospital in Hazard, KY.  He was the some of the late John Newman and Judy Fields Newman Adams.  He is survived by his one daughter, Anna L. Smith; one son, Johnny Newman; one brother, Arnold Newman; and five grandchildren.  Arrangements were handled by Maggard Brothers Funeral Home of Hazard, KY.  Funeral service was held on Thursday, August 4, 2005.  Interment at Kilburn Cemetery in Viper, KY. 
 
 Ernest Fugate, age 65, of Hazard, KY, died Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at Hazard ARH Hospital in Hazard, KY.   He was the son of the late Ben and Lillie Riley Fugate.  He is preceded in death by Sharon Melissa Fugate.  He is survived by his wife, Jeanitta Fugate; two sons-Ernest Joe Fugate and Greg Fugate; three sisters-Louise Maggard, Ollie Lynch, and Dorothy Fugate; one brother, Wesley Fugate; two grandchildren; four step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.  Arrangements were handled by Maggard Brothers Funeral Home of Hazard, KY.  Funeral service was held on Thursday, August 4, 2005.  Interment at Fugate Cemetery in Combs, KY.
 
 Hayes Justice, age 70, of Viper, KY, died Friday, July 22, 2005 at Our Lady of the Way Hospital in Martin, KY. He was preceded in death by one son, Normal Ray Justice. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Justice; four daughters-Deloris McIntyre, Wilma 
 
 Justice, Wanda Farmer, and Sharon Faye McKinney; one step-daughter, Connie Lavonne Feltner and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Geraldine Combs, age 72, of Hazard, KY, died Thursday, July 14, 2005 in Hazard, KY. She is survived by her five daughters-Terri King, Sonya Bailey, Paula Crutcher, Leslie Bowling and Kimberly Combs; six grandchildren-Calvin King, Rondall Smith, Mason Perry, Travis Perry, Cheyenne Crutcher, and Noah Summerset.  Mattie H. (Horne) Smith, age 87, of Hazard, KY, died Friday, July 15, 2005 at Hazard Nursing Home in Hazard, KY. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Bruce Smith, three brothers and one sister. She is survived by one daughter, Jayne Wesley Squires; two sons-Jerry Ronald Smith and Jon Bruce Smith; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Rosa Jones, age 81, of Hazard, KY, died Monday, July 25, 2005 at Hazard ARH Hospital in Hazard, KY. She is preceded in death by two sisters-Nancy Howard and Ruby Stacy. She is survived by two brothers, Joe Wells and Jerry Wells and a host of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Arrangements were handled by Maggard Brothers Funeral Home of Hazard, KY.  Laura (Morris) Pennington, age 74, of Krypton, KY, died Monday, July 25, 2005 at Hazard ARH Hospital in Hazard, KY. She is preceded in death by her husband, Russell Pennington. She is survived by three daughters-Sally G. Colwell, Ruby Stidham, and Barbara Sumner; three sons-Bertis Baker, Eligie Pennington, and Ronald A.  Frank “Judge” Miller, age 96, of Hazard, KY, died Monday, July 11, 2005 at Heallen Ellis Hospital in Tarpon Spring, FL. He is preceded in death by his wife, Aileene Miller, two sons-Donnie Miller and Frank Lamar Miller and two daughters-Wanda Jo Miller and Conda Lee Miller. He is survived by one daughter, Rayma West; daughter-in-law, Pat Miller; one son, Joe Miller; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  Brown Low Combs, age 75, of Hobert, Ind., died Monday, June 6, 2005, at Methodist hospital in Merrillville, IN. He was the son of the late Henry and Mary Ellen Neace Combs. He is survived by his, nephews: Ishmuel Fugate, David Lee Fugate, and French Combs. Nieces include, Goldie Miller, Bertha Gayhart, Nasia B. Miller, and Donna Hoskins.  Betty Huff Fugate, age 95, of Bonnyman, KY, died Monday, May 16, 2005 at Home. She is survived by one daughter, Alice Faye Fugate; three sons-G.C.  Ragon Helton, age 93, of Pittsburg, KY passed away Wednesday at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Corbin. He was the father of Bill Helton of Hazard, KY and the brother of Josie Combs. She is survived by three sisters-Ethel Lee, Norma Jean Combs and Kathleen Wallace; one brother, Charles Davidson and a host of nieces and nephews. He was a army veteran from the Vietnam era and retired from Arch Mineral. Bertha Dolly Combs, age 90, of Hazard, KY. dies Saturday, January 1, 2005, at Hazard Medical Center in Hazard, Ky.  She was the daughter of the late George Engle and Peggy Gayheart Engle. She is preceded in death by her parents.  Husband Dave Combs. She is survived by her 2 sons, Newton Combs of Hazard, KY., Darrel R. Combs of Hazard, Ky., Two Sisters,  Lula Patrick of Lost Creek, KY., Edna Jones of Lost Creek, Ky.  Two Brothers, Sherman Engle of Lost Creek, Ky. Bob Engle of West Carrolton, OH.  Four Grandchildren, Eight Great Grandchildren.
 Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Brothers Funeral Home. 432 East Main St. Hazard, KY., where the family will receive friends form 6:00pm to 9:00pm Monday, Jan. 3rd, 2005. Funeral services will be at Upper Lost Creek Baptist Church at 11:00am Tuesday, January 4th, 2005, Rev. Don Blair, Rev. Kendall Combs officiating. Interment will be at Holiday Cemetery, in Ary, KY.
