Frances Thompson

From the Mt. Vernon Signal: Frances Thompson, 89, widow of George Neal Thompson of Maretburg, died at her residence, Wednesday, May 3, 2000. She was born June 10, 1910 in Gravel Switch, the daughter of the late Gather Wesley and Clydie Beatrice Miner Hayes. She was a homemaker and member of the Maretburg Baptist Church.

Survivors are two sons, Glen M. Thompson and wife, Retha of Mt. Vernon and David Neal Thompson of Maretburg; one daughter, Joyce Carolyn Wilson and Wayne Lear, Sr., of Brodhead; eight grandchildren, William Tracy, Anthony Lee, Timothy Dale, Gregory Scott, Joshua David, Tara Dawn Thompson; Regina Joyce Chasteen and Rhonda Gail Robinson; 10 great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two children, William Jerl Thompson and Hugh Merrill Thompson; two brothers, Wallce and Gather Westley Hayes, Jr.; two sisters, Omayha Riley and Virginia Weatherford and two grandchildren, Desiree Thompson and roger Eugene Wilson.

Services were Saturday, May 5, at Maretburg Baptist Church with Bros. Raymond Offutt and Wayne Harding officiating. Burial was in the Maretburg Cemetery.

Pallbearers were William Tracy Thompson, Anthony Lee Thompson, Timothy Dale Thompson, Gregory Scott Thompson, Joshua David Thompson, Roger Robinson and Parkey Thompson.
