  2. James Alford Hannum.
    Born: 5 Feb 1884, Muhlenberg County.

    After his mother Harriet's death in 1920, James moved to Sumner Co., Tennessee, to live with his mother's sister Dora Pearson. He is recorded there in the 1930 and 1940 U.S. censuses.

James Montgomery Hannum (son of Jonathan), b. October 17, 1814, southern part of Logan Co., Kentucky; d. March 14, 1884, about 10 miles south of Greenville, Muhlenberg Co., Kentucky; buried in Sumner Co., Tennessee; m. 1849, 1853, or 1855, six miles south of Russellville, Logan Co., Margaret Ellen Tannehill, b. 1817, about six miles from Russellville; d. July 1, 1873 (of cholera), Franklin, Simpson Co., Kentucky, and buried there; dau. of N. Tannehill, and Anna McCurdy, of near Russellville. No children by this marriage.

James was a second time married, May 20, 1874, Mitchellville, Sumner Co., to Harriet Catharine Hammond, b. November 4, 1852, near Mitchell Station, Sumner Co., dau. of Alford Hammond and Sarah Ann Fitts, of near Mitchellville.

James was a farmer, moved from Logan Co. to Simpson Co., thence to Sumner Co., then to Muhlenberg Co.; he was the owner of lands in Logan and Simpson Counties; he at one time ran a flouring mill in Robertson Co., Tennessee, also a dry goods store in Mitchellville and Franklin.

The records of James Montgomery Hannum's family have been destroyed, and most of what is given above is hearsay, and from memory, three dates being given for his first marriage.
