Peter Lam & Goodwin Cate

Goodwin Cate was born 10 January 1801 in NC and died 14 May 1873 in Muhlenberg Co., KY. She is buried with her husband.

They were in Maury Co., TN by 1824; Christian Co., KY in 1850; and in February 1851 bought land on Cypress Creek in Muhlenberg Co., KY.

  1. Elijah Lam was born 05 November 1822 in NC and died 01 October 1892 in Muhlenberg. He married Martha G. Cates, 08 August 1844, Polk Co., MO. They are buried in Fairmount Cemetery, Central City, KY.
  2. Thomas Lam was born 26 August 1824, Maury Co., TN. He disappeared from the family after the 1840 Maury County Census. Nothing more known.
  3. Nellie/Ellender/Ellen Lam was born 04 February 1826, Maury Co., TN. She did not marry and died in Muhlenberg after 1880 and is buried in Jagoe Cemetery.
  4. Dorothy Lam was born 17 October 1827, Maury Co., TN and died 22 April 1905 in Muhlenberg. She is buried in Jagoe Cemetery. She married 1) Asa G. Ezell, 06 March 1845, Calloway Co., KY and was divorced; 2) Jacob Jagoe, 18 September 1864, Muhlenberg.
  5. Sarah “Sallie” M. Lam was born 19 January 1830, Maury Co., TN and died 24 February 1884 in Muhlenberg. She is buried in Nebo Cemetery. She married 29 January 1852 in Muhlenberg William P. Richardson.
  6. Rachael Lam was born 26 January 1832, Maury Co., TN, and died 21 July 1888, Island, McLean Co., KY. She is buried in Island Baptist Church Cemetery. She married 12 September 1872 in Muhlenberg Seth Ramsey Searcy.
  7. William Jackson Lam was born 16 January 1834, Maury Co., TN, and died 11 March 1903, Hopkins Co., KY. He is buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Madisonville, KY. He married Amanda Boyd Roark, 14 November 1858, Muhlenberg.
  8. Peter Sylvanus Lam was born 22 March 1836, Maury Co., TN, and died 21 June 1900, Linton, Greene Co., IN. He is buried in Fairview Cemetery, Linton, IN. He married 1) Eliza Jane Harrison, 26 December 1858, Montgomery Co., TN; 2) Paulina (Allen) Mansfield, 13 November 1877, Muhlenberg Co., KY.
  9. Martha Ezrabella Lam was born 17 March 1838, Maury Co., TN. She died after 1889. She married 1) 07 April 1857, John D. Hale, Muhlenberg; 2) 06 September 1868, Elijah Peavler, McLean Co., KY.
