Robert & Rosanna McConnell

Lt. Robert McConnell and his wife Rosanna were the parents of Margery McConnell Sharp, wife of Capt. James Sharp. Robert's will, of 1771 in Franklin Co., Pennsylvania lists his children.

Children of Robert & Rosanna McConnell:

These families were members of the Rocky Springs Church, Chambersburg, Franklin Co., Pennsylvania, same as the Culbertson and the Cessna families were also from this area.

Notes: Other McConnells: There was an early settler into Muhlenberg named John Henry McConnell. His daughter, Jane McConnell, was married to Col. S.P. Love in 1849, per Otto A. Rothert's 1913 History of Muhlenberg, page 328.

At Nelson Creek Cemetery, there is a Nancy McConnell “Our Mother, b. May 9, 1796, d. _____[possibly 1873], Relict of John McConnell”. The 1850 census shows Nancy McConnell, age 52. The marriage records for the county shows John McConnell married Nancy Davis on December 24, 1821. Living in the household of Nancy McConnell in 1850 was a F. Davis, female, aged 82.

In 1817, a James McConnell married a Fannie Davis, most likely a sister to Nancy Davis. The 82-year-old F. Davis was most likely their mother.

There was a Robert McConnell also in the county but cannot locate him in other documents.
