In 1764 Peter Smith purchased 202 acres in Orange Co., North Carolina from George Counts known as Hogans Creek on Round Hill Branch. Caswell was formed from Orange in 1777, and Peter's property was in that part which became Caswell County. The farm was located on the northside of Hogans Creek on the Round Hill branch. There were several Peter Smiths in Caswell at that time and this helps in distinguishing this particular Peter Smith.

  2. Elizabeth Smith, born 1765 Fairfax Co., Virginia; died in North Carolina; married 09 January 1792 in Caswell Co., North Carolina Richard Hornbuckle. Elizabeth did not move to Kentucky.

  4. Presley Wheeler Smith, born about 1770. Deeds are recorded in Muhlenberg for Presley W. Smith as late as 1836, and in 1851 one Presley W. Smith was exempted from paying county levy due to age and infirmity. There were other Presley W. Smiths but none old enough that his age would prohibit paying his taxes. Otherwise, nothing is known with certainty about this son.
