In the name of God, Amen.

I, Thos. J. Anthony, of the county of Muhlenberg, state of Kentucky, being of sound mind and disposing memory, and believing that I will not live long, do proceed to make this my last will and testament, this the 26th day of March One Thousand Eight hundred and sixty three.

First I will that all my just debts be paid.

2. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Katharine the farm on which I now live, it and its appertenances, to have and to hold during her natural life or widowhood, and then to my son Herman to be deeded to him and his heirs forever.

3. I give my daughter Sarah Ann Williams fifty dollars to be paid to her in six months after my decease out of my estate.

4. I give my daughter Nancy one hundred dollars to be paid in six months after my decease to purchase her a horse.

5. I give to my son Charles M. Anthony my farm known as the Felix Martin farm to be deeded to him and his heirs forever when he arrives to the age of twenty one years.

6. I give to my daughter Mary E. Anthony my negro girl Jenna and her increase to have and to hold to her and the heirs of her body forever.

7. I give to my daughter Katharine my negro girl Mahala to her and the heirs of her body forever.

8. I desire that my three negro boys shall be sold to the highest bidder at the courthouse door in Greenville, the proceeds to be loaned to good men at lawful interest; interest to be paid over annually to the guardians of my four youngest children, to viz., Mary E., Katharine, Herman & Charles M. Anthony, to be equally applied to their use and benefit during their minority. But as they arrive to the age of twenty one, or marry, or in case either should die, said interest be divided between the minors until the youngest shall become of age, and then the principal remaining to be equally divided between my four children, to viz.: T.P., Jacob, Tyberias, and my daughter Nancy Y. Anthony.

9. I desire that my three eldest sons shall have full possession of my two farms the present season. After this year the Felix Martin farm shall be rented out publicly by my admr., the proceeds to be applied to the benefit of my four youngest children as directed in the 8th item of this my last will. My three eldest sons, having the possession of my farms this year, shall give to my wife and family one third of all the corn raised on my farms, and all the wheat is to be hers.

10. All my cash notes & the proceeds of what personal property may be sold after my death, after paying all debts and expenses, whatever remain shall be placed in good hands at interest, said interest to be applied to the use and benefit of my four youngest children as directed in the 8th item of this instrument.

11. I desire that all my perishable property shall be sold at public sale of whatsoever it may be except hereinafter named.

12. I give my wife all my household, kitchen furniture, beds & bedding, and everything belonging to the house or appertaining thereto. Also all my flock of sheep and the 2 first choice cows & calves, my 2 best mules, also twenty of the best hogs & the two best sows & pigs, and all the poultry, spun threat or cloth not made up.

13. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Katherine my two negro girls Eliza & Laura to have and to hold during her natural life and then to my four youngest children and their bodily heirs forever, which is Mary E., Katharine, Herman & Charles M. Anthony. All the property to my wife by this my last will & testament is in lieu of her dower interest in my estate.

14. I give to my daughter Mary E. Anthony one bay colt named Reuben.

15. I give to my son Herman a certain black colt named Reindeer.

16. I give to my following children one cow each, Nancy Y., Mary E. Tyberias, Katharine Anthony.

I acknowledge this to be my last will & testament. In witness whereunto, I have hereunto this day set my hand & seal, this 26th day of March one thousand eight hundred, sixty three.

The foregoing last will and testament of Thomas J. Anthony, deceased, was produced to court and proven to be the act and deed of said decedent by the oaths of Robt. W. Eads, Thomas S. Wyatt and Wm. W. Martin, the three subscribing witnesses thereto, and ordered to be recorded.
