Transcription

I, James Arnett, of the county of Muhlenberg and state of Kentucky, do make this my last will and testament hereyb revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.

First, I direct that all my debts be paid, and as to such worldly estate as it pleased God to entrust me with, I dispose of the same as follows. Towit.

First, I gave and bequeathed to my daughter Nancy two mares, one a don [sic] and one a gray, one cow and two head of sheep, two beds and furniture, also one saddle and bridle.

Next, I gave and bequeathed to my daughter Nelly Wilkins as follows Towit, one horse saddle and bridle, one cow, and two yearlings, two beds and furniture, and give head of sheep.

Also I gave to my [son] James Arnett Jr. one hundred and twenty two acres of land, it being the tract I bought of John Faith, also one horse saddle and bridle, one cow and four head of sheep, one bed and furniture and fifteen head of hogs if there is that many to spare.

Also I gave my son Lewis Arnett as follows Towit, one hundred acres of land, it being the tract I now live on, also one horse saddle and bridle, one cow, one bed and furniture, and four head of sheep, also fifteen head of hogs if there is that many to spare at my death.

I gave to my beloved wife Elizabeth Arnett two beds and furniture, one spotted colt, and all the balance of the household & kitchen furniture, farm untensils, all the balance of my stock of cattle and hogs, and sheep during her life and to dispose of as she may see proper.

Next, I gave to my son William Arnett two dollars to be paid by him in money.

I do hereby and ordain my son James Arnett executor of this my last will and testament.

In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 28th October 1842.

The foregoing last will & testament of James Arnett, deceased, was exhibited into court & proved to be the last will & testament of said Arnett by the oath of John S. Eaves & ordered to be certified and at the April County Court 1843, the same was fully proved by the oath of William A. Eaves, the two subscribing witnesses thereo, which is ordered to be recorded.
