In the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and sixty one &nbps; June 30, Amen.

I, Edmund Batsel, being in my perfect mind and memory but being weak in body and knowing the uncertainty of life, do make and declare this my last will and testament.

First, I will and desire that all my just debts be paid. I will and desire that my negro boy George be sold and all the loose property that can be conveniently spared off of the farm and a part of the northwest corner of the tract of land on which I now live, enough to cover my debts, or should it take enough land to injure the farm, I prefer some other property be sold. I hereby authorize my executor to make deed to said [land] and boy and sell same privately or at public auction as he may think best for the interest of my wife and children.

Second, I give and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth E. all my property, real and personal, during her natural life (that may be left after my debts are paid) and after her death the same to be equally divided between my children.

Third, I desire that my daughter Mary live with the family as she has done since the loss of her husband.

Fourth, I hereby appoint Jas. T. Humphrey my executor to this my last will and testament and declare all former wills by me made null and void.

Given under my hand, date above.
