I delcare this to be my last will and testament.

I give and bequeath to my wife Margaret all the property of every description, personal, real and mixed of which I may die posssessed: with full power to dispose of the same in such manner as to her may seem fit.

Given under my hand and seal this twenty second day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty one at the city of San Francisco, California.

Codicil

In case my wife, Margaret, mentioned in the foregoing will dated at San Francisco, California, on the twenty second day of June in the year one thousand eight hundred and sixty one, should die before me or if surviving me she should not make disposition by will or otherwise of the estate bequeathed to her in the foregoing instrument of writing, then in either case, I declare it to be my will and desire that my stepdaughter Nannie Mason, daughter of my said wife by her former husband, General Richard Barnes Mason, shall be sole and absolute heir to all of the estate or property of whatever description of which I may die possessed and that the property or estate herein bequeathed to my said stepdaughter shall be free from any control of her future husband should she choose to marry.

The word “surving” mispelt in the fourth line from the top of this page is erased and the word surviving interlined is substituted.

In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this eighty day of January in the year one thousand eight hundred and sixty seven at Airdrie, Kentucky.

The foregoing last will and testament of D.C. Buell, deceased, was on the date above written produced in court and proven by the oaths of Charles Eaves and M.F. Melody to be both body and signature in the handwriting of said decedent whereupon the same is adjudged to be the last will and testament of said decedent and is ordered to be recorded which has been done accordingly.

Given under my hand this 15 day of December 1898.
