Elizabeth Cessna Will

Transcription

Knowing that life is uncertain and being at this time much disordered in body but sound in mind and having a desire to dispose of my property somewhat different to the way the Law would make.

1st, I will that all my just debts be paid.

2nd, My will and desire is that my beloved son Robert J.C. Cessna have all my horses, cattle, sheep and hogs and that he shall pay to my beloved daughter Elizabeth Milligan and Sally Berryman five dollars each and that he shall have one bed, bedstead and furniture.

3rd, I will and bequeath to my beloved daughter Nancy Cessna one bureau, colt and cow.

4th, I will and bequeath to my beloved granddaughter Elizabeth Berryman one bed, bedstead and bed clothes.

5th, I will and bequeath to my beloved daughter Joanna Boyd one clothes press.

There being many other articles not named above, I will that that they should be divided amongst my children as they think best except the farming utensils and cupboard and half the furniture I give to my son R.J. Cessna, the other half to my daughter Nancy.

I make and appoint my beloved son Robert J. my sole executor to this my last will and testament. Signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of this 5th April 18[??].

The foregoing last will & testament of Elizabeth Cessna, deceased, was exhibited into court & proved to be the act and deed of Elizabeth Cessna by the oath of Benjamin S. Young, a subscribing witness thereto, and at the July County Court 1837, the same was fully proved by the oath of James Sharp, the other subscribing witness, & ordered to be recorded.
