Isaiah Hancock's will

Transcription

The Commonwealth of Kentucky, Muhlenberg County, the last will and testament of Isaiah Hancock.

I, Isaiah Hancock, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being in sound mind and memory, blessed be to almighty god for the same, I do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form as following that is to say

1st I give and bequeath unto [my] beloved Thisely [?] daughter Thessuly [?] Hancock Item the first my Jack horse, one red cow & calf, one year old heifer February last, all of my stock of hogs containing ten in number, all of my crop of corn, wheat and oates including the rent of my land together with the same, all of my household and kitchen furniture with the exception of my only feather bed and furniture taht I give and bequeath to my beloved Sarah Martin, to have and dispose of at her own will.

I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Cassandra Hancock a certain pided cow and calf.

Considering my land good for my debts with a remainder I wish my land at my deceased as soon as possible to be sold and credit of twelve months.

My will is that Robert Williams should so soon as the money can be collected, take so much as will pay off all of my lawful debts which I think amounts to three notes in number, one to daughter Thesuly [sic] amounting to &dollar100 dollars with interest from the date, ne to James Weir the amount not recalled and one to Robert Williams, all of which I wish to be paid out of the proceeds of my land after is accomplished.

My will is for Robert Williams to pay strict attention to making an equal divide of the remainder of the money between my sons Charles Hancock, John Hancock, Thessuly [?] Hancock, Sally Martin and Elisha Hancock, sons and daughters of mine.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 12th day of July 1839.

The foregoing last will & testament of Isaiah Hancock deceased was exhibited into & proved to be the act & deed of the said Isaiah Hancock by the oaths of Stephen Vick & Robert Williams, the subscribing witnesses thereto, which is thereupon admitted to and truly recorded.
