Central City, Kentucky, November the 24, 1886
Know all men by these presents that I, Wm. S. Humphrey of Muhlenberg County, Kentucky (a farmer), considering the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death, and being of sound mind and memory, do make, declare and publish, this my last will and testament.
First, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Serena Humphrey everything I own at my death to be hers her natural life or as long as she remains my widow. She, Serena Humphrey, is to take all of my personal property and cash & cash notes to see and collect and to pay my debts just as fast as possible and to sell real estate if it is necessary or wants to do so with the exception of my home farm, about three hundred and fifteen acres, it is not to be sold not any part of it. It is to belong to Serena Humphrey and the children as long as she lives as her dower or homestead. At her death, everything that is left of our estate, after pyaing debts, is to be divided equally between my children by agreement among theirselves, and if there are any minor children, those who are of age are to do the dividing as they think to be right and to take care and to give to them as they think they need it and to give it over to them as they become of age or their marriage. Bro. J.J. Humphrey is to assist in carrying out my will if he is living and not too far off, and if my son W.T. Humphrey is of age, he is to assist his mother in carrying out my will. I want no public sale without my wife thinks it best to have one. Serena Humphrey is to do this as above stated without giving bond or surety.
if we both die and Wm. T. Humphrey is of age and living, he is to carry out my will as above stated without bond or surety, and if Wm. T. Humphrey is not living, the next older what is living or of age.
The Court is to appoint a guardian and administrator for my heirs as the law directs.

Humphrey as and for his last will and testmanet in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses hereto in the town and county and state as above written, subscribe our names

The foregoing last will and testament of Wm. S. Humphrey deceased was exhibited into Court and proven to be the act and deed of the said decedent by the oaths of S.P. Love, Jno. J. Humphrey & Joseph Gossett, the said witnesses testifying that the whole of the said will & testament with the exception of the signatures of the subscribing witnesses was written by the decedent himself & that the signature attached to the said will & testament is the genuine signature of the said decedent. Whereupon the same was ordered by the Court to be recorded which is now done accordingly.
In witness whereof I hereto set my hand as clerk of said Court.
