John Reed, 1900

Know all men by these presents, that I, John Reed of Muhlenberg County and State of Kentucky, being in good health and of sound mind and memory do make and publish this, my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me, at any time, heretofore made by me and as to my worldly estate and all the property, real, personal, or mixed of which I shall -- possessed or to which I shall be entitled at the time of my death in the following manner.

First: I will to my son Jacob N. Reed, one thousand dollars in land - money which I paid in my lifetime.

Second: I will to my daughter, Mary Francis Nofsinger, one thousand dollars in land and money, which I paid in my lifetime, I have made her equal with Jacob N. Reed.

Third: I will to my son John E. Reed and his heirs the home farm which I live on and three hundred dollars, the money has been paid to make John E. Reed and heirs equal with Jacob N. Reed and Mary Francis Nofsinger.

Fourth: All my funeral expenses be paid by my executor out of my estate as soon as convenient after my decease; as for any debts, I owe none.

Fifth: I will to my daughter in law, Mary Reed, wife of John E. Reed, deceased, three hundred dollars for waiting on my wife Elizabeth during her sickness and staying with me and taking care of me in my old age.

In testimony whereof, I the said John Reed, this day set aside all former wills and make this, my last will and testament and have set my hand seal this May 11th 1900.

The foregoing last will and testament of John Reed, deceased, was produced to court on the date above written, and proven to be the act and deed of said decedent, by the oaths of J. W. Humphrey and D. T. Gossett, the two subscribing witnesses thereto. Whereupon the same was adjudged to be the last will and testament of said decedent, and ordered to be recorded, which is now done accordingly.
