Mrs. Bettye Jean Roach age 76, of Mt. Vernon died Wednesday September 3, 2003 at the Rockcastle Health & Rehabilitation Center in Brodhead. She was born on March 19, 1927 in Mt. Vernon the daughter of the late Floyd and Daisy Fish Miller. She was retired from both Jefferson and Rockcastle County School Systems, was a retired social worker for the Dept. for Social Services in Rockcastle County, she enjoyed crafts, and was a member of the First Christian Church.
Survivors are: one sister; Mrs. Julia Taylor of Mt. Vernon. Several Nieces & Nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband; Judge Roach, and by one sister; Suella Miller.

Obituary, 101Ranch Old Timers Association Newsletter, Fall 2000: Joseph Carson Miller, Jr., son of Joseph C. and Lizzie Trosper Miller, longtime resident of Ponca City, died Friday, September 15, 2000. Services were held Monday, September 18, 2000 at the First Presbyterian Church and burial followed at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Joe was born on the 101 Ranch July 7, 1905, educated in the Ponca City schools and attended Oklahoma University and Oklahoma State University, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. In 1927, Joe joined the 101 Ranch Real Wild West and Great Far East Show in a business capacity until 1930 at which time Joe was elected president and manager of Ponca Industrial Finance Corp. He was a WWII veteran. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and The First Presbyterian Church. He had over 70 years perfect attendance with the Ponca City Kiwanis Club.
"He is survived by three nieces, Marilyn Miller Harris of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Virginia Harth Richards of Fort Worth, Texas, and Elizabeth Harth Woodard-Wyman of Rogers, Arkansas, and dear close friend, Martha Jones of Ponca City."

According to letter from Henry Fish dated 1912 relating the Fish Family History: "Zach Miller married a lady near the ranch and they have one daughter named Virginia. The babe was born at Jamestown, Virginia during the World's Fair there. She weighed 24 ounces at birth and was saved by being placed in an incubator. They (Zach & wife) recently parted and both sued for divorce. She sued also for $150,000.00 alimony. He kidnaped the little girl and took her to Kansas City, Mo. where he placed her with his sister, Mr. Alma England only daughter of G.W. and Polly Carson Miller. Mr. England is a lawyer."
Buried at Cowboy Hill Cemetery, near Marland, Kay Co. OK. Headstone reads: "Zack T. Miller, 'Founder of 101 Ranch', Apr. 22, 1877 - Jan. 3, 1952". Other 2 graves on Cowboy Hill are "Sam C. Stigall, Feb. 11, 1885 - May 23, 1967, Pioneer foreman of 101 Ranch working 1902-1929", and "Jack Webb, June 19, 1902 - June 1, 1956 'Worlds greatest trick roper & sharp shooter'".
