According to Roberts & Sons Funeral Home (Blackwell, OK) record, George was the first assistant Post Master in Blackwell. He was also a member of Odd Fellows, K.P., and a Mason.
Also according to funeral home record: his home was 536 W. Blackwell St., Blackwell, OK, but he had resided for 3 weeks in Ponca City and died at 12:15pm on March 15, 1935 at Ruth Hospital in Ponca City, OK. Dr. Winter was the attending physician. Age was listed as 62 yrs., 1 mos., 13 days.
His occupation was listed as Justice of the Peace. He had last worked on Jan. 1, 1935.
Headstone in IOOF cemetery, Blackwell, OK reads: "George M. (Carson on central stone in plot), Feb. 2, 1873 - Mar.15, 1935".

Per death cert. she died at 8:15am on 10/23/1978 of cardiac arrest due to cardiogenic shock as a result of calcific aortic stenosis.
Taught elementary school starting in 1926 in Newton, KS. Started in the Wichita system in 1937, teaching at Finn, McCormick, Sunnyside & Hyde elementary schools before retiring in 1966.

"TEACHER DIES 11 YEARS AFTER EYE TRANSPLANT
Eleven years ago, Dorothy Ruth Carson was thrilled to see a blue jay clearly again. She had just received her first eye transplant operation. Her other eye was replaced by a similar operation, and Carson's new eyes served her well until her death Tuesday at
age 76, according to her roommate, Mary Jo McPherson. 'It's just like a miracle,' Carson had remarked, 'Colors are so much brighter. I'm startled sometimes'. Carson's transplant operations enabled her to read, knit and sew, McPherson said. She had suffered from endothelial dystrophy. Carson was a veteran elementary school teacher. She began teaching in Newton, Kan., in 1926 and moved to Wichita in 1937. During her tenure in the Wichita school system she taught at Finn, McCormick, Sunnyside and Hyde elementary schools, before she retired in 1966. She is survived by a brother, Joe Carson of Phoenix. A memorial has been established with the Kansas Foundation for
the Blind. Cochran Mortuary is in charge."

librarian in Los Angeles Public Library system 1928-1969. Retired to Phoenix, where she volunteered at Desert
Botanical Gardens and Good Samaritan Hospital. During the 20 years they lived in Phoenix, Dorothy and Joe traveled
to Hawaii, Europe, and Mexico, and toured the U.S. in their Winnebago. Moved to Tucson in 1987 and became active
in the Valley Manor community. Pre-deceased by her husband of 62 years, Joe, in 1992. Survived by her children, Jo
Anne (Ken) Jenkins of Tucson, Robert (Sandie) of Phoenix, Jim (Ann) of Albuquerque, Mary (Mike) Dillon of
Pleasanton, CA; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and Patrick the cat. She willed her body to UA
(University of Arizona) College of Medicine. There will be no services at her request."
