         Mr. Stephen Thiker as Rouge Croix Pursuinant.  Nobility Coat of Arms;  described in Burkes Peerage and

         Fairbains Crests of Teutonic and Celtic Stock, came from Kent Co. England.  Name traced to Norse, then Gothic

         and further back. SKAG means SHAKE, Scandinavian spelling SKEG, meaning Bearded, rough and rugged like

         a beard or rocky and rough.

        Azure a chevron counterchanged in chief, a lion passant guardant azure.

     b.  Ca. 1630-1640 Came from Derry, Providence of Ulster Ireland, Juanita Lutrell thought a mistake may have been

          made in writing his name and this name might have been RUSSELL instead of Busel.

         b. ca. 1665-1770 Ireland

         i   Came to Maryland, then to possibly NC or SC then possibly on to Va.  Supposedly his son JAMES SKAGGS was born

             on  a ship coming to America.  THOMAS SKAGGS left Ireland after siege of Londonberry 1688-1689. 

             THOMAS SKAGGS had 7 grandsons known as the Longhunters.  It was stated in Draper Manuscripts that

             Longhunters were 6 SKAGGS brothers and grandsons of an Irishman, THOMAS SKAGGS who fled from

             Ireland after the  siege of his land.  They lived ripe old ages, by Burdette and Berley, “LONGHUNTERS SKIN

             HOUSE” , Filson Club Quarterly Vo. V pg. 179

          m.  RACHEL MOREDOCK, There is a question as to whether her last name was MOREDOCK.  Some think

                she  was the daughter of ABRAHAM MOREDOCK.  I can find no record of JAMES SKAGGS or THOMAS SKAGGS from 

                1700 to 1745.

          b.  ca. 1700 May be the other HENRY in Ky. That Cyrus Edwards reported to have died on his farm ca. 1795.

               study deprivations of Indians in Roanoke Va.  S.s.1. HENRY SKAGGS would only have been l6 at this time.

         CHARLES SKAGGS 1 tithable. Waters of New River were governed by the New County of Fincastle with

         headquarters at the Lead mines in present Wythe Co. Major Wm. Ingles to take the list over the New River as
