DAWKINS, MCCRACKEN, SHEPHERD posted by Jane Tenney on Friday, January 10, 1997

William SHEPHERD left a will in Henry County, KY in 1824. He left money to Jane MCCRACKEN and Nancy DAWKINS. The rest of his estate was to be sold and his slaves freed and provided for. He was very specific that he was not including any other family relations in his will. His wife's name was Nancy. Does anyone know her name and where these Shepherds came from?

JOHNSON, JOHNSTON, PEYTON, PURVIS, SPURR, STIVERS posted by Vernon Purvis on Friday, January 24, 1997

I am researching the PURVIS, STIVERS, PEYTON, and SPURR families of Henry County and Kentucky. I am especially interested in the descendants of Dudley SPURR. Also in the descendants of Ben PURVIS (1864-1935) and Nancy SPURR Purvis (1858-1919). Also the descendants of John William STIVERS (1835-1916) and his wife Mary PEYTON (1869-1945). Also interested in Mary's parents, Ben PEYTON (1840-1885?) and Aminica (1840-1890?) PEYTON. I have alot of information on these families to share with others. Also looking for the desendents of Belle STIVERS (1890-1982), who had one son by the name of Johnny JOHNSON. Also, for the children of Otto (died 1972) and Rose (died 1949) JOHNSTON. The children were Ruth and Arleen and would be in their late 70s or early 80s now. Also looking for information on Olive Purvis (1892-?), daughter of Ben in Nancy PURVIS. She may have died in May of 1906 when her father bought a plot in Point Pleasant Cemetery, but no graves are marked on his plot and the census of 1910 seems to indicate that all of their children were still alive. Also looking for records of Point Pleasant Cemetery that would give information on unmarked graves. Does anyone know who keeps the records of Eminence Cemetery that would help to find an unmarked grave?
