ALLEN, DODD, FORD, LEE, PALMER, TERRELL posted by Donna Isom MacDougall on Thursday, September 16, 1999

Bartlett and James ALLEN were brothers from Virginia, living next to each other in 1820 and 1830 Henry County, KY censuses. Bartlett married Lucina "Sinah" DODD July 14, 1820 in Shelby County, KY, James married Josey Anne FORD, daughter of Jonathan B. "John" FORD and Elizabeth PALMER, June 4, 1827 in Henry County. Two of John FORD's brothers, Garrett FORD and Robert FORD, married women from the TERRELL family, and two of his sisters, Nancy FORD and Elizabeth FORD, married men from the LEE family. Bartlett and Sinah ALLEN had four children born in KY and James and Josey ALLEN had three children born in KY when they migrated to Crawford County, IL about 1834-1837. Have had no success finding the parents of Bartlett and James ALLEN. There was a Thomas ALLEN in the 1820 census and in 1830 Margaret ALLEN was listed as a head of household. It's possible that Thomas and Margaret were their parents, that Thomas died between 1820 and 1830, leaving Margaret to be named as! head of household. That is pure speculation, though. Any information would be very welcome.

DAVIS, EVANS, SWINNEY posted by Marla Andrus on Saturday, September 25, 1999

My GG-Grandfather was Monroe DAVIS, son of James Madison Davis and Elizabeth (EVANS) DAVIS. James Madison DAVIS (also known as Mat or Madison) married Elizabeth (also known as Betsy) EVANS, on Dec 9, 1833 at Shelby County, KY. They may also have had Henry County relations. It is believed that, James Madison DAVIS was the son of William DAVIS and Nancy (SWINNEY) DAVIS. James Madison DAVIS had 2 sisters known of, Jane and Rosana DAVIS. It is believed that Elizabeth (EVANS) was the daughter of Joseph EVANS, who resided at Shelby County in 1810. Perhaps there are also Henry County connections. Would like to converse with others researching DAVIS, SWINNEY and EVANS in the Shelby and Henry County areas.
