RUCKER posted by Uley Washburn, Jr. on Tuesday, November 9, 1999

Seeking info on RUCKER family around Pleasureville, Defoe area of Henry Co. Garland RUCKER was married to my great aunt, Beatrice Adler. Garland's father was a Joe RUCKER, with a brother Jim RUCKER. Could they have had a sister named Josephine? Further interested in a Major RUCKER, rank apparently from C. W. Union army. This man owned a farm near where I used to live. I am also seeking to find if he may have been a descendant of Angus RUCKER. Angus was a Captain in VA infantry during Rev. War, and awarded 4,000 acres for his service. Have no record of where 1,000 of those were claimed, the other 3,000 were in Jackson Purchase area of state. Area where Major RUCKER lived is on creek named either Banta Fork, or Bonnie Fork, depending on source. Does anyone have any ideas here?

GAINES, MCGREW, ROBERTS posted by Fred Davis on Tuesday, November 16, 1999

Thomas ROBERTS married Massella MCGREW in Henry County November 6, 1833. Catherine ROBERTS married James McGREW on December 24, 1833 (Bond) in Henry Co., Kentucky. I suspect the father of both of the MCGREW girls is Moses MCGREW as the name of Moses shows up as children. Both of these families moved to Fulton Co., IL about 1835. The 1850 Census of Fulton Co., IL for James and Catherine MCGREW had John ROBERTS age 72. I think this is Catherine ROBERTS father and probably Thomas ROBERTS father as well. John ROBERTS and his wife Catherine are buried in the Lyons Cemetery, Fairview Twp., Fulton Co., IL. John ROBERTS died November 15, 1857, age 80 yr - 11 mo - 12 days and his wife Catherine died August 9, 1847, age 69 yr - 11 mo - 1 day. I believe they were also from Henry Co., Ky. There is also an Onslow GAINES ROBERTS whose father was also a John ROBERTS from Kentucky in Fulton Co., IL as well. Anyone have any further information on this ROBERTS family?

KERLIN posted by Mary L. Wardlaw on Wednesday, November 17, 1999

KERLIN Census records indicate that our KERLIN family was in Henry County as early as 1790 (Peter)and until after the 1860 (Arthur married to Martha with children)census. I am interested in wills (Arthur died between 1850 and 1860, and both Arthur and Martha died between 1860 and 1870.) The 1850 and 1860 census showed both Peter and Arthur to own real estate. Marriage records for these two may also give me additional information. My great great grandfather was John B, son of Arthur. Any information you can help me with will be greatly appreciated. I will happily share it with the Henry County Archives when I get it assembled.
