ASHBY, GUERNSY, HERNDON, WOODARD posted by Steve Wright on Saturday, January 3, 1998

Today, in an antique store, I purchased two very old bibles. One is supposed to have been printed in the late 1700s or early 1800s. An index card in it says that it was brought to Clark County, Indiana in pioneer days and is connected to a GUERNSY family who supposedly lived there. However I found something in it that makes this explanation quite puzzling. Here is what I found: Thomas G. WOODARD was united in marriage to Caroline HERNDON, 22 December, 1840. I looked up on my Kentucky marriages on CD-Rom and found that Thomas WOODARD married Mrs. Caroline HERNDON 21 December, 1840 in Henry County, Kentucky. Likewise, on CD-Rom, U.S. census index for 1850, a Thomas WOODARD, Henry County, Dist. 1, page 365 and a Thomas G. WOODARD, Dist. 1, page 582. In the 1870 index, I found William WOODARD, Eminence Dist.,Henry County, Kentucky, page 282. William Thomas WOODARD was born, 13 January, 1842. Thomas G. and Caroline WOODARD had 6 children born between 1842 and 1856. There is also listed a death of an Etta W. ASHBY who died in 1882.(middle name WOODARD?) Thomas G. WOODARD died 3 December, 1878 but I don't know where. I found the bible in an antique shop in Shepherdsville, Kentucky.

KING, MAGDALIN, MOODY posted by Bill R. King on Sunday, January 4, 1998

My great-great grandfather was Richard KING b. Jan 12. 1810 in Virginia and he married Thursday ???? (father was possibly James MOODY, mother was MAGDALIN) in Henry County on March 14, 1834. Thursday was born in Kentucky on Aug.29, 1816. Richard and Thursday KING lived in Kentucky until at least 1844. Two of their children, James Thomas b.~1842 and Magdalene b.~1844 were born in Kentucky. Richard and Thursday KING may have lived with her parents. I do not see him in the 1840 U.S. Census. I know a great deal about the Kings after they left Kentucky, but absolutely nothing about them before 1834.

HANCOCK, HAYDON, WILHOITE, YANCEY posted by Audrey Shields Hancock on Thursday, January 15, 1998

HAYDON, HANCOCK, WILHOITE, YANCEY Seek info on Jemima HAYDON, dau/o James & Elizabeth HAYDON of Henry Co., KY; mar 7/19 Jan 1801 Franklin Co., KY to Thomas Graves HANCOCK of Franklin Co., KY. I have 3 children possibly 4 born to this union before her death in 1810. 1. James HANCOCK b 19 Oct 1802 Franklin Co., KY & went to IL by 1849. 2. Maria/Mariah HANCOCK b 7 Sep 1804 Franklin Co., KY, mar 18 Apr 1828 Owen Co., KY to Willis WILHOITE, & were living in 1849 in Owen Co., KY. 3. John Bartlett HANCOCK b 6 Jun 1806 Franklin Co., KY & was living in Owen Co., KY in 1849. Now, these three were supposedly legatees in the will of their maternal gf, James HAYDON, of Henry Co., KY in 1812/1813 and it appears they were left land possibly in Owen Co., KY where it appears all lived at one time. There is a possibility of a 4th child, Jane HANCOCK, b 17 Apr 1809 Franklin Co., KY, mar 23 Jan 1830 Franklin Co., KY to Charles YANCEY. She was evidently not mentioned in the will as were her supposed siblings. Since Thomas Graves HANCOCK did not remarry until 1810, I assume she is a dau/o Jemima, who possibly died in childbirth or soon thereafter. Any help with finding the true lineage of this family would be appreciated.

DUNN, SULLINGER, TAYLOR posted by Janis Wetherbee on Friday, January 23, 1998

I am looking for information on George DUNN who married Margaret "Peggy" SULLINGER(1810) in Henry Co KY. By 1845 they had moved to Carroll Co. KY. There was a TAYLOR family living near them in Henry Co and I am interested in them also. Andrew Jackson TAYLOR married Martha Jane DUNN (dau. of George DUNN) in 1846 (Carroll Co. KY) and I am wondering if the TAYLOR family living near the DUNN's in Henry Co. would be Andrew's family.

Looking for Henry County marriage records late 1800's of ...MILLER and Marica BABBITT (spelling could be BOBET, BABIT, BABBIT) born 1867 possibly in Louisville, KY.

MILLER posted by Peggy MacAniff on Monday, January 26, 1998

Response to Jack H. MILLER's request for paternal and maternal lineage of Leonard Esley MILLER born in Smithfield, Henry Co., KN 1889. I have maternal lineage back to Wales. Only lead on paternal lineage is that he was known as "Bud" MILLER. There is a William Penn MILLER buried in the same Piducah, KN cemetary as Benjamin Harrison "Hoss" MILLER. Have not been able to trace as I am still unsure as to the given name of "Bud" - this from a book written on his wife's family.
